I mean, presumably it’s supposed to be a spoiler rather than a wing, breaking up airflow over the hatch instead of generating down force? Whether it actually does that is a whole other question...

I mean technically the airflow should follow over the body, which means that little hatch wing should create downforce.
Even if it doesn’t, I think mid wings like that look great, so who cares.
